Gujarat Police & Jailor Group-II Combined Competitive Examination Rules, 2025: A Comprehensive Guide
The Government of Gujarat has published the new rules governing the combined competitive examination for various Class III posts across the State Police Force, State Reserve Police Force, State Intelligence Bureau, and Jail Department. These rules, titled the Sub-Inspector, Class III and Jailor Group-II (Male and Female) Class III, (Combined Competitive Examination) Rules, 2025, came into force on November 15, 2025.

For more information on PSI Recruitment Rules (RR) 2025 These rules apply to recruitment for the following Class III cadre posts, as specified in Appendix I:
- Police Sub-Inspector (Unarmed) in the subordinate service of the State Police Force.
- Platoon Commander and Police Sub-Inspector (Armed) in the subordinate service of the Gujarat State Reserve Police Force.
- Intelligence Officer and Assistant Intelligence Officer in the subordinate service of the Gujarat State Intelligence Bureau.
- Jailor Group-II (Male) and Jailor Group-II (Female) in the subordinate service of the Jail Department.
The Examination Stages Of PSI Recruitment Rules (RR) 2025
Know more about the recruitment process for PSI Recruitment Rules (RR) 2025 The recruitment process consists of Two successive stages:
- 1st Stage: Physical Test (Qualifying nature).
- 2nd Stage: Main Examination.
Candidates must first clear the Physical Test to be called for the Main Examination. The final merit list will be prepared based on the marks obtained in the Main Examination and any additional marks as specified in Appendix IV.
Stage 1: Physical Test (Qualifying Nature)
The Physical Test includes two parts: Physical Endurance Test and Physical Standard Test (PST).
1. Physical Endurance Test (PET) – Running)

Note: The minimum expansion of the chest when inflated must be no less than 5 centimetres
Stage 2: Main Examination
The Main Examination is of 300 marks and consists of two papers, each with a duration of 3 hours.
Paper 1: General Studies (MCQ) – 200 Marks (3 Hours)
This paper is Objective type (Multiple Choice Questions) and will be divided into two parts: PART-A and PART-B. Each question carries 1 mark.

Key Points for Paper 1:
- Negative Marking: A penalty of 0.25 mark will be deducted for every attempted question with an incorrect answer.
- No Attempt Option: An optional ‘E’ option for “Not attempted” is available. If a candidate does not intend to answer, they must select this option to avoid the negative marking.
- Qualifying Standard: The candidate must attain a minimum qualifying standard of 40% in PART-A and PART-B separately to qualify.
Paper 2: Gujarati and English Language Skill (Descriptive) – 100 Marks (3 Hours)
This paper is Descriptive type.

Key Points for Paper 2:
- Qualifying Standard: The candidate must score a minimum 40% to qualify.
- Evaluation: Paper 2 will be evaluated only for those candidates who score a minimum 40% qualifying marks in both PART-A and PART-B of Paper 1 separately.
Final Merit List
The final merit list will be determined by the aggregate marks obtained in the Main Examination (Paper 1 + Paper 2) and the additional marks awarded as per Appendix IV.
Additional Marks (Appendix IV)
Additional marks will be awarded to candidates based on certain criteria:

Eligibility and Other Rules
- Educational Qualifications: Candidates must possess the requisite educational qualifications and other requirements for the post as specified in Appendix I and prescribed under the relevant recruitment rules.
- Age Limit: The candidate must have attained the minimum age and not attained the maximum age as prescribed in the relevant recruitment rules on the date specified in the advertisement.
- Nationality/Citizenship: The candidate must be a citizen of India, a subject of Nepal, a subject of Bhutan, or a person of Indian origin who has migrated from specific countries (like Pakistan, Myanmar, Sri Lanka, etc.) with the intention of permanently settling in India.
- Marriage Clause: A person having a spouse living, or who has entered into or contracted a marriage with a person having a spouse living, shall not be eligible for appointment, though the Government may grant an exemption in special cases.
- Examination Fee Exemption: Candidates belonging to the Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, Socially and Educationally Backward Classes (Including Nomadic and Denotified Tribes), and Economically Weaker Sections shall be exempted from the payment of the examination fee.
Document Verification & Selection
- Document Verification: Candidates will be called for document verification based on their aggregate marks in the Main Examination and additional marks. The number of candidates called will be about twice the number of vacancies requisitioned.
- Order of Preference: Candidates must provide their order of preference for the posts (listed in Appendix I) during the document verification stage, and this preference will be treated as final.
- Non-attendance: Failure to attend the Physical Test, Main Examination, or Document Verification on the specified date will lead to ineligibility for the subsequent stages.
