Educational Qualification – GSSSB Food Safety Officer

Candidates applying for the Food Safety Officer, Class-3 position must possess the following educational qualifications as per the Health and Family Welfare Department’s notifications dated 02/07/2016 and 21/09/2023:

Essential Qualifications:

• A Master’s Degree in Chemistry from any recognized University established or incorporated by or under a Central or State Act in India, or any other institution recognized as such, or an equivalent qualification recognized by the Government; OR
• A Bachelor’s Degree, Master’s Degree, or Doctorate Degree from a recognized University or Institution in any of the following disciplines:
  • Food Technology Disciplines: Food Engineering, Food Engineering and Technology, Food Processing and Preservation, Food Processing Technology, Food Technology and Management, Food Biotechnology, Food Plant Operations Management, Food Process Engineering and Management, Food Processing, Food Safety and Quality Management, Process and Food Engineering.
  • Agricultural Science Disciplines: Agriculture, Agriculture Engineering, Biotechnology, Dairy Technology, Fisheries, Food Technology, Food Nutrition and Dietetic, Horticulture.
• Computer Knowledge: Basic knowledge of computer application as prescribed in the Gujarat Civil Services Classification and Recruitment (General) Rules, 1967. This includes a certificate/mark sheet from a training institute, a diploma/degree/certificate course in computer knowledge, or having computer as a subject in Std. 10 or 12.
• Language Proficiency: Adequate knowledge of Gujarati or Hindi or both.

Important Note: No person who has any financial interest in the manufacture, import, or sale of any article of food shall be appointed as a Food Safety Officer.

Age Limit – GSSSB Food Safety Officer

Selection Process
