These vacancies are distributed across various organizations/offices of the Government of India, including Border Roads Organization, Brahmaputra Board, Central Commission, CPWD, DGQA-NAVAL, Farakka Barrage Project, Military Engineer Services (MES), National Technical Research Organization (NTRO), Director General of Lighthouses & Lightships, Department of Telecommunication (DoT), India Meteorological Department (IMD), and Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying. Candidates should note that state-wise/zone-wise vacancies are not collected by the Commission, and they are advised to approach the concerned User Department for such information.
Educational Qualification (as on 22.09.2026)
Candidates must possess the requisite educational qualifications by the closing date of the online application form. The qualifications vary by post:
- Junior Engineer (Civil): Degree in Civil Engineering OR Three-Year Diploma in Civil Engineering with two years of working experience in Planning/Execution/Maintenance of Civil Engineering works.
- Junior Engineer (Electrical & Mechanical): Degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering OR Three-year Diploma in Electrical/Automobile/Mechanical Engineering with two years of working experience.

Application Fees – SSC Junior Engineer
The application fee is ₹100/- (Rupees One Hundred Only).

Selection Process – SSC Junior Engineer
The selection process for the SSC Junior Engineer Examination 2026 involves two Computer-Based Examinations (CBE) and Document Verification.
- Paper-I (Computer Based Examination): This paper consists of General Intelligence & Reasoning, General Awareness, and specific Engineering/Science subjects (Part-A to Part-G). Paper-I is qualifying in nature, and candidates will be shortlisted for Paper-II based on normalized marks.
- Paper-II (Computer Based Examination): Shortlisted candidates from Paper-I will appear for Paper-II, which focuses on the respective Engineering/Science subjects. Final merit will be determined based on the normalized scores of Paper-II and the candidate’s post preferences.
- Physical Efficiency Test & Medical Standards (for BRO posts only): Candidates opting for Junior Engineer posts in Border Roads Organization (BRO) will have to undergo specific Physical Efficiency Tests and meet Medical Standards as detailed in Annexure-XVI of the notification. Failure to qualify may lead to cancellation of candidature for BRO posts.
- Document Verification (DV): Provisionally shortlisted candidates will undergo Document Verification by the User Department concerned after the declaration of the final result.

About SSC Junior Engineer : Candidates must follow these steps to apply for the SSC Junior Engineer Examination 2026:
- One-Time Registration (OTR): All new candidates must first complete their One-Time Registration on the new SSC website (https://ssc.gov.in). OTRs from the old website (ssc.nic.in) are not functional. Candidates can opt for Aadhaar-Based Authentication during OTR.
- Online Application Form: After successful OTR, log in and click the ‘Apply’ link under the ‘Junior Engineer Examination, 2026’ section.
- Live Photograph Capture: The application module is designed to capture a real-time photograph. Ensure good lighting, plain background, eye-level camera, and a full-frontal view without caps, masks, or spectacles.
- Upload Scanned Signature: Upload a scanned signature in JPEG format (10-20 KB), with dimensions of 6.0 cm (width) x 2.0 cm (height).
- Fill Details: Information from OTR will be auto-filled. Provide other required details, including post preferences and examination centers (three preferences in order of priority).
